Letter of Thanks From Local School

Pastor Francisco Arriaga Avila
Harvest of Faith Mission
Pastor Richard Chambliss
Harvest of Faith Ministries;

I direct this letter to thank you for your interest in constructing a class room for the Luis Mercado Solis Elementary School, clave 02EPR0471K in zone 039 located in Las Brechas del Mirador, Maneadero Baja California Norte, Mexico.

As of the writing of this letter our school does not have a class room for the first grade for the coming school year, 2009/10 which starts on August 24.

Fortunately, as promoters of change in this Colonia where the school is located we are seeing more and more children enrolled in school each year although there still exist many parents who do NOT send their children to school at all. So day in and day out , we battle to see that things change and that no child is left without an elementary education at least. Our dream is that every child receive that elemenatry education which consists of garde 1 through grade 6.

One of our biggest challenges is that we are not considered by our government to be a “complete” school until we have six class rooms, a school library and an address. Until we have those things we do not qualify for the government support which would give us the services of a physical education teacher, a psychologist, social workers, vocational programs and assessment, among many many other benifits for these students who make up some of the most economically marginized in our area. Being counted as a “complete school”, approved for the appropriate government support provided by the Secretary of education of Mexico, would give these children a much different future allowing them to stand on at least the equivelent educational ground as every other student in this state, regardless of their economic status.

I believe that education can only enrich these children’s futures. I thank you on behalf of the children, their parents and the teachers who all possess the conviction that these children can grow up to be citizens with great abilities, knowledge, values and principles capable of contributing with excellence to a society which is constantly changiing.

I also felt it was important in writing this letter to express my gratitude to you and your congregation for your commitment to service to this community and all of the work that you and all involved in your church have done thus far to further these children’s education and for the betterment of this community. I want to say thank you on behalf of all involved for fulfilling every promise you have made to us with never expecting anything in return. Thank you for providing the drinking water and the utility water for this school in a timely manner every month and thank you for cleaning up the schoolyard, for painting, for building us an incinerator for trash, for installing fans in the classrooms and for our windows as well.

Since their are no recreational facilities in this growing community, which means that the children have little to do physically, we especially thank you for cleaning and clearing the futbol(soccer) field and for the manufacture and installation of the futbol goals. This will help these children in so very many ways,

Many groups and people have expressed a desire to help us with the continuing developement of this new school but only you have caused your words and promises to be come a reality, again thank you.

57 and Counting

meseaI just celebrated my 57th birthday. I have been thinking on the connotations of the number. I have realized 50 is the number of jubilee or liberty and freedom. Seven the number of completion. I felt I heard the Lord say to me this 57th year will be a year of the completion of my liberty . He spoke to me at the first of the year that this would be the year of discovering true identity . If the people of this planet need anything we need to find our true identity. We need some reality in our lives. The church seems to have only added to our confusion. Telling us that we are our doings instead of our beings.
I feel a call to speak present day reality to people. I hear a lot of people speaking what is going to happen but I know what has happened and is will affect our future more than guessing about what is to come. I know that if I walk in the light of His reality now, the future is a guaranteed secure place for me.
I don’t know about you. I can teach you, encourage you to believe but I can’t guarantee your security. Not a very good advertisement in this day of guarantees of total success. All I can do as a teacher and a spiritual navigator is point the way and give reality based instruction. You must take the knowledge of the truth (reality) and walk in it. The Lord showed me that our greatest threat in these days is not global warming, terrorism global unrest, war, famine ad nauseam. Our biggest threat is the onslaught of false reality bombarding our senses which in turn is creating fear in our hearts. Paul said we walk by faith and not by sight. The opposite of faith is not fear but walking by sight or conducting our lives limited only to knowledge gathered from the world by our senses. Experiences build an ego or carnal mind that is at enmity with God’s Reality. The ego is limited to only what it knows from experience. This is not necessarily reality. We cannot limit ourselves to this ignoring what Jesus came to give us. The Promise of the restoration of of the Presence of God’s Own Holy Spirit in us . It is Christ in you that is your hope of Glory, I heard a prophet describe Glory as a higher existence. Because Christ is in me I have a hope or confident expectation of a higher existence the one I am currently in.  I am not talking about going to heaven when I pass from this earth but experiencing the higher existence of fellowship with my Creator and Sustainer. This is a present day reality. The people of the earth need to know that this is real now. Knowing this will change their earth. I hear a lot about shaking. I would like to shake them and say wake up to what is real now. Awake to your righteousness and quit missing it.
We are not in the end of time or the end of the world. Jesus completed the work for us to have glory. We are living in the times of completion not the destruction of the earth. World without end Amen.

Hope this finds you all continuing to give thanks for the many many blessings that our Lord Jesus purchased for us …
It is very cool here today and I am anxious to get wrapped up in a blanket and start on a new book as part of getting recharged for the new week to come but wanted to share this with you right away.
The Lord is moving in a mighty way, in many mighty ways really. You can feel it in the air and it is exciting. Wish you were here with us to experience all of what is happening in Mexico.
This morning , after worship and as Pastor Frank was starting to teach, Hermana Felipa arrived in the sanctuary, you might remember her from the videos in particular one where she recieved a winter coat…she ‘ s the one who dreamed of her conversion BEFORE she was converted, eliminating the need for translation to her obscure mother tongue. Anyway, she came in late and walked up the middle aisle and placed a grocery bag at my feet. I did not open it until after service . Inside the bag were a couple of dozen tomatoes , a Coca Cola and two bottled orange juices.  This was our sister’s offering and it truly touched our hearts.  You see, Felipa, although in her mid 70’s has been working extra hard of late, harvesting tomatoes and tying back the vines. They say it is THE HARDEST of all filed work around these parts and she has been having to work even on Sundays the last 2 weeks. She works from about 4am when she walks about a mile to meet the company transport ( a big flatbed where about 70 workers ride standing up pressed like cattle for another 45 minutes.) She will board the same truck home at around 5pm. Then she’ll trek that mile in the dark and have to get a fire going to heat up some beans and possibly tortillas. She shares one cold 10 by 8ft cinderblock room with her daughters and their husbands and their many children. The room has no electricity, plumbing or running water. They sleep on the concrete floor side by side upon blankets to make it softer. Her work days are from 12 to 14 hours long and for that time she will be paid $50.00 pesos or about $4.60 US. This morning she walked over a mile in the cold air to get to service with her granbaby strapped upon her back carrying her offering. The soda and juices cost about a dollar and eighty cents………… Almost half of what she earns in a days hard work. I was so taken aback by the generous offering, from a woman just converted a couple of months ago. Immediately the account of the widow’s mite was borne in my heart. She hasn’t heard much teaching on giving from us thus far, but in her heart she KNOWS, in her heart she is GRATEFUL and that gratitude overflows in her. Oh, and she’s a widow. I believe I got a firsthand eye witness version of the Gospel in motion today and we fervently pray the Lord’s immense blessings upon such a faithful woman that He will give her the strength of an eagle and make her aftrenoon restful and rejuvenating! And for those of us who are struggling today, with whatever might be the problem, Felipa should be our example and our standard. If she can do it we certainly can in CHRIST. I for one, will drink my Coke very slowly today appreciating it to the very last drop.
PF says he loves you BURD and that he misses you as well………

April Report New Clinic

Today was Opening Day at the new Clinic in our building. I told you that the couple in Idaho had retained a Doctor and a nurse for this 1 day a month to start out.
Everything went absolutely perfectly without a flaw!
Amazing for a first day experience, absolutely amazing. And my helper did not show up! At first I thought , “Oh, dear, it will be a mess,” but with Nurse Ernestina doing intake, Dra Jeanette doctoring, me as pharmacist and Frank as everything else , it went unbelievably smooth.

36 patients in total were attended to. Basically run of the mill maladies, sore throats , flu, ear infections etc with the exception of two little girls who REALLY REALLY needed to be seen and treated.
One had a basic knee scrape that was SO infected that it was actually gangrenous.(gag) Very very crucial that she was tended to. Dra. debraded and cleansed the area and rx’d antibiotics. I gave her her first dose and Dra asked me to continue with debrasion and cleansing for 3 more days. The child is about 5 and is basically left in the care of an Aunt who does not seem to care much for her. Her parents are working the fields in Fresno California. Bless her heart. Her name is Vikki, please keep her in prayer. Dra. Said that if not taken care of she could lose her leg and all could have been prevented by simple hygiene. I will keep up with her as she lives just down the road.(Lord help me as it is really gross) Praise the Lord we had the meds to give her and a DR to see her!
Then there is little Marcela, whose chicken pox have become TERRIBLY infected (again hygiene is lacking). I am sending photos of her. Will keep up with her as well.
Francisco is out delivering the few meds that we needed to purchase, stuff not in our dispensary-only a few things so we were prepared in an excellent manner!!
I am WORN out, being a pharmacxist is pretty darn tough and I will never ever again complain when I have to wait for a script to be filled. I repent of that as I kept many people waiting today. I think we are all pretty tired as we worked straight thru.
Explaining the meds kept me totally occupied 100% of the time. Thank God I cooked yesterday for today’s meal or no one would have eaten. We served 68 for lunch as well, again praise Jesus!

But all in all, for the first time we were really well prepared and well organized,so hallelujah! All of the prayers helped a lot. I can’t get over it because I do not think I have ever seen anything start off so well…..I mean we are two basically simple people, not real highly educated or refined and we were able to stock and open a HOSPITAL. That is basically what it is and it just shows that Yahweh can do whatever He wants with a heart that is willing. He still uses the foolish things(us) to confound the wise!

There was a general feeling of peace throughout and we were able to pray over several patients, the community seemed very LOVED and appreciative. It is hard to explain but it was almost like they could not get over that someone would do all of this, start a health clinic just for them. It is an awesome expression of Yahweh’s love for us all. That for these few people He made it possible for people from all over the USA to come together and combine finances and resources and time and bless THEM. I heard people saying “Gracias A Dios” who never say that…………and that says a lot to me.

I am amazed that after so many years of praying for this , the dream is now a reality. God is Good and He is FAITHFUL to bring His Word to pass, over and over and over again. I stand in awe this night. Again.

I also want to thank you BURD, AP, the Family and Harvest of Faith for your constant support.

As I watched children with empty milk jugs and bleach bottles straggle up the hill this evening coming to get water I realized how blessed we are to be able to bless these people with what we have. The water has become so important! Right now we are supplying about 15 families with their only source of clean drinking water. If we do not have water they must drink the dirty, even black water which is often contaminated with feces. Clean water is just a luxury they cannot afford. Obviously that leads to disease, malady and constant pain in one way or another for them. When we arrived in Mexico the Lord told us we would be His “water carriers.”
We did not really understand then, some 11 years ago. Then in Cantu we were given the drinking water dispensary to operate for a year, so the whole town’s water passed thru our hands. But now we are able to give freely this water and we never intended to, it just happened that one person came then another and now they come from all around. And when we GIVE it to them they can’t get over the fact that it is a gift. Praise God. Plus the symbolism of the “water” is not lost on me! So anyway, thank you all for that. We couldn’t do any of this, nothing really, without you who care for us and express your love with the utmost offering, the rarest offering, which in this time is money. I mean many will donate someTHING , many will offer to pray, but FEW will actually give money and everyone KNOWS that we have to have it to survive. Again, many, many thanks for your gifts and sacrifices.

Baja Report March

Hope yu had a restful SUNDAY, as much as possible that is. We have been working with the docs from Idaho for the last few days and I am very very worn out but also pleased with the progress of this visit.
This is the first time I have ever really had any first hand contact with them , usually I just email them and I had only met them once several years ago. I am pleasantly surprised that they are really very sweet people. Especially Doc Olson. I think you would get on well with him. A very intelligent yet really humble fellow with a sweet spirit, certainly unlike any dr. I’ve ever known.
I think you will be happy to hear that the Clinic, to be run ut of our building is now operational! I had no idea they would acrtually get it going at this date. We open on April 17 and will be having a doctor in for one 8 hr day every month at first. They have already hired the doctor here, she is a believer who says she was praying for an opportunity to use her skills to help the poor. They also hired a nurse to work with her. They flew in on private planes and brought with them exam tables, lights, meds, surgical and emergency supplies, all kinds of stuff to stock the clinic. Yesterday Frank and one of the other docs, Ted built a portable exam room while I went with the others to town and they purchased enough medications to stock our new clinic dispensary. I will need to get them inventoried and stored this week………….
Yesterday, they saw two patients and word of the clinic is out already bringing a stream of folks to set appointments for that first day.
The Lord is moving mightily upon the hearts of the people. Church was FULL again today. Today, though the Presence was very strong and the people literally danced with us in the aisles in worship, it was a rare occasion! Most importantly though, the altar area was fllooded with people for prayer! I would guess about 35 came forward for ministry! They are beginning to try the Lord in a good way, We prayed for healings, salvation and I even had Words of prophecy for them today and they did recieve, praise Jesus.Frank was quite broken in the presence of his maintained healing and his words were very much annointed. He was saying things that he doesn’t know and i was flored as I KNEW it was Yahweh flowing directly thru him, he preached this very evangelistic Resurrection Life message straight from the throne and I was blown away. It was almost weird.
I had a Word for yu this morning, got it at about 8:30 my time, to late to call you, but the Lord said for your to search back to prophecies almost forgotton almost given up on and to prepare to recieve that which you thought wuld never come. I am about to pour out a blessing that has become a memory for you JUST BECAUSE I SAID I WOULD AND MY WORD IT IS TRUE> AND BECAUSE THIS IS A TIME OF HARVEST OF SEEDS THOUGHT DEAD TO SHOW MY RESURRECTIN GLORY , BUT MOST OF ALL BECAUSE I LOVE YOU SO SAYS THE LORD.
I am real tired so I’ll go.
Much Love and abundant blessings–

The 3 Be”s of blessing

The Lord spoke to me about the three Bes of living in His Blessing.

First of all Be forgiven.
I have come to understand being forgiven is no an event but a lifelong privilege. We learn to live in the state of being forgiven. The Lord told me that He had forgiven me for my past present and future mistakes. I was to live in continual forgiveness. This is part of Eternal life. Confession of sin is for our benefit to facilitate cleansing from iniquity or the propensity towards a particular sin. In this we grow. But even in this we are forgiven. Our sin consciousness alienates us in our minds from Him . He is not alienated from us.
• 2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.16 ¶ Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
• Romans 517 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)18 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.1 ¶ What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.
• Ephesians 4:18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;
• Colossians 1:21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled
• Hebrew 1015 But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,”17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
• Hebrews 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Be Reconciled

In searching for the definition for reconciliation the aspect that spoke to me the clearest is that reconciliation is the restoration of a friendship that was broken. It means to become friendly once more. Jesus defined friendship as this John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. In living in reconciliation we live in a friendly relationship with God through Christ. The Father is friendly towards us. This also means all His creation is friendly towards us. Part of the curse upon Adam was that He would toil with the ground and it would withhold its goodness from Him . Jesus reversed the curse. The earth is now friendly towards the sons of God.
• Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
• James 2:23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.
• 2 Corithians 5: 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
• 17 ¶ Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life.18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field.19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”
• Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
• Genesis 1:11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.
• Genesis 1:20 ¶ Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.”
• Genesis 1:24 ¶ Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so.
• Genesis 9:7 And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth And multiply in it.”
• John 15:15 “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

Be Redeemed

Now that we have forgiveness we are friendly with God we can experience Redemption. Redemption is the possessing of something that was lost or sold. It implies you once owned it lost or pawned it and now regain it. All that we lost in Adam is now regained in Christ. If you look at god’s original intention for His man you will see what we have regained. We have regained His blessing His approval and His favor.
The curse is reversed. What came in the fall of man at His declaration of independence or great mistake was poverty sickness and spiritual death. Adams conscience of His sin alienated Him from the life of His Creator and from His true identity as a son of God made in His likeness and image . He lost His awareness of His dominion and authority over creation. I don’t believe in evolution if anything the reverse is true The Devil made a monkey out of a man and started a downward evolution that could only be reversed in Christ. It is not more education that changes man it is a revolutionary overthrow of His mind and a spiritual rebirth connecting us with our true creator .
• Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
• 1 Peter 1:18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
• Revelation 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
• Romans 3:24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
• Romans 8:23 Not only that, but we also who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.
• 1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God––and righteousness and sanctification and redemption––
• Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
• Ephesians 1:14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
• Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
• Colossians 1:14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
• Hebrews 9:12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
• Hebrews 9:15 ¶ And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Report From Baja January

Dear Family,

Greetings to everyone! We hope this finds you all havin gotten a good start on the New Year and ready to come out of winter…..
Here in Mexico, we are thankfully well and full of excitement and hope at what this year will bring. We continue to be constantly occupied with a ministry that is in a real spurt of expansion that amazes us!
The Lord has allowed us an opening into the indigenous community in the area for which we are very grateful. At this point we are ministering alost exclusively to Indian peoples from several tribes who hail primarily from the states of Oaxaca and Chiapas, the two most impoverished states in Mexico. These people come to Baja Norte seeking work in the rich agricultural fields here. They seek no more than to survive and hope for better conditions than the ones they fled, but unfortunately, they most often find themselves in an even worse situation here, far from all that they know. They board old (circa1974) auto buses for a 5 day trip to Tijuana, then board other buses for the farming areas. Once here, they find the wages insufficient to sustain themselves upon, with minimum wage right now hovering at the equivelent of about $4.00 US a day. In order to survive on such low income they must live in “company” housing or labor camps which are overcrowded, unsanitary and basically deplorable. A family of 11 that we know, for instance, lives in a labor camp; they all live in a 8×8 cinder block room with no running water or bathroom, no heat and one 2×1 glassless window set high in the back wall. Rain and wind blow freely through the window no matter how they try to plug it up with cardboard or old blankets. Raw sewage runs freely thru the camps central area, where all of the cooking is done over wood fires.
There is no safe place for anyone to walk let alone anyplace for the many children to play and they frolic daily in nasty black water.
The people to whom we minister very rarely know how to speak Spanish which is the national language here. We deal with three tribes , the Trique, Zapoteco and Mixteco; each on espeaks a different dialect and they do not understand one another, making it easier for the rest of society to discriminate freely against them. Due to the language barrier and the fact that these indians still practice home births most have no government documents such as birth certificates. This and the transient nature of their work keeps almost all of the children from being able to attend school.
To make a long story short, these people are facing an impossible situation (without Christ) and each day is a new and difficult battle, jsut to survive.
On January 8th, we celebrated one year of feeding these children at the new facility and it has flown by. Last year this time we were serving approximately 45 people a hot free meal daily, but noiw attendance is up to an average of 65 a day! It comes out to some 325 meals a week, praise God!
The Lord really blessed our relationship with the local school principal, allowing us against all odds to inscribe any children we can in elementary school. So far, in the current school year we have placed 53 indigenous children in school for the first time in their lives. We found a loophole in the law that allows us to enroll them if we have them vaccinated at a state hospital. Once vaccinated, they recieve a natuional vaccine card which is the legal equivelant of a birth certificate here. Praise God, you should have seen Pastor Francisco , Bro. Marcial and me chasing leery children around the hospital lobby on our mass vaccination trips. Everyone knows how much children hate shots…. We are working closely with the school now, so much so that Marcial, a brother and HEALED heroin addict who came through the rehab program here 7 years ago, now drives the school bus route to three different work camps. After school the kids return to the church, eat and board our borrowed bus to be shuttled home. Having outgrown the van, (with about 58 kids needing a ride) a local rancher has loaned us their school bus which is usually used to transport field workers. This is a great example of God’s favor as this rancher is not even a Christian and is known as a very “hard” man , but he’s butter in the Lord’s Hands!
WE now have a couple who are members of our church who are helping us daily with teaching the children. We are offering daily classes on Bible and basic Spanish. We were trying to teach math and reading but found that we needed to narrow our focus first to the very basics and it has been very successful thus far. I thank Yahweh for the help!
WE have also been approached by a couple of doctors who are very interested in opening a health clininc offering free medical care to the indigenous people in our community. The idea is also to train individuals from each camp in basic triage and preventative medicine to improve their quality of life. They will be using our building until they build their own and would work closely with us as we have ties to the pueblo and the people are very very suspicious of “outsiders.” Until the clinic opens, they have pledged $150 a month to establish a fund for health care emergencies among the people we minister to. This is an awesome blessing. Currently, we are trying to help Cristina, a 7 year old girl with stribismus or wall-eye condition that is causing her bad headaches and many problems learning to read obviously. Minor surgery will hopefully correct the problem and be an asthetic blesssing as well, as the other children tease her about her eye. Right now, we are awaiting the return of her father from Oaxaca to get permission for the treatment.
There is so much going on, I know i am forgetting something, but I have to tell you that I am most overjoyed by what is happening in our little Church. WE have Sunday morning services here and a mid-week service out in a community south of town at a young Trique couples home. They were both saved here when they lived in the camp near the mission base last spring. He is our Trique translator.
Our Sunday meetings have grown steadily in accordance with Pastor Richard prophetic Word when he was last here!
I have to say that that is what excites me the most of all. This past week we had 49 adults and about the same amount of children. Every chair was full and the Presence was oh so sweet! Attendance has been steadily climbing since mid December and we have men as well as women and children and it is hard to get the indigenous men to attend. No OTHER fellowship in this area has such a diverse mix of tribes as we do, praise Yahweh. Please keep our meetings in prayer and pray that the Word will go forth quickened by the Holy Spirit so that it can be understood in each language!
We have had cases of supernatural translation and some really creative salvation miracles. Sister Felipa is a Trique who speaks NO Spanish. Weeks after her conversion she told me through a translator how it happened. Evidently, days before she responded to the altar call, she had a dream. She dreamed a “good” man with a “shining appearance” was beckoning her into a mountain meadow in her homeland. In the dream she felt such great peace. Well, when the altar call went forth that Sunday she connected it to the dream and “knew” she should step forward. When the prayer and confession to salvation was made in Spanish she heard it in her own language and repeated it that way!! So see, the Lord loves these people so much that He WILL make away! I and she believe it was Jesus in the dream. Now I do not worry much about which language the Word goes forth in, because I know the Lord can make anything happen. This sister is in her mid 60’s, she works 14 hour days in the field cutting tomatoes for about $7 a day. She is always bringing new friends and family to meetings and she has never missed a Sunday so far, even though she walks over a mile to get there. She is a true blessing.
I want all of you at Harvest of Faith to know that not a day goes by that we do not have you on our hearts. Your sacrificial giving to this mission is truly touching and changing people’s lives everyday.
I recently read on The Joshua Project, an organization that tracks international missions and their impact that the people we minister to’ the Trique, the Zapoteco and most Mixteco are considered to be “unreached peoples”. LESS than 2% of them are evangelical Christians. The entire Bible in written form is still unavailable in their languages. There has been ZERO evangelical church planting among them in the past 2 year period.
Now I know folks who believe missions are “obsolete.” They believe everyone has been “reached.” NOT TRUE! The Lord has entrusted us with a very special task! This includes you all, because without your giving we would not have done all of what we have this past year. These people are modern day targets of the Great Commission handed down to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. No one else is doing it and if they do not hear the Word they WILL remain LOST. Now, you may not be able to physically get out on the foreign mission field right now, but by your obedience in giving you are enabling us to preach the Gospel to the lost everyday. Thank you all so very much for remaining steadfast and faithful. Harvest of Faith has been the fountain through which the Lord flows since our first months in this foreign land and we thank ya’ll for sticking with us and for your great generosity. Please know how important you are to our expression of Jesus great Love and His Kingdom in this place!
We love you and pray the Lord prosper you in every area of your lives,
Your Sister and Servant in Christ,
Sis. detra

Word for 2009

Sunday January 4,2009

Given by: Richard Chambliss

I want you to have a shout of victory in your mouth. It does not matter what it looks liken your life right now. The circumstances are temporary. They are absolutely temporary. But, know that I am Eternal says the Lord. And my eternity is working in your hearts says the Lord. I want you to have a shout of victory in your mouths. As you approach this year I want you to approach it with a shout of victory in your mouth says the Lord, a shout of victory.

Even in your mind and in your body there which is contrary to what I have declared says the Lord, but believe me. Witness what I have said this day and meet every challenge this year with a shout of victory. For there shall certainly come the appearance of that which shall appear to you says the Lord that which shall appear to be defeat and to be a lessening in your life, but look beyond it says the Lord. Stand upon your toes look over the fence, look over the barrier, know this, The victory is on the other side waiting for you the wall that appears is only a thin veil that the enemy has put in front of you, over your eyes to keep your heart darkened. But know this day my light and my life come into you to lighten your heart, liven your heart and cause my very, very nature to come forth to you this year. This will be a year of increase in your lives. This will be a year of increase in your lives says the Lord spirit, soul and body, spirit, soul and body. Listen not to the gain slayers. Listen not to the doomers and gloomers, Listen to My voice, says the Lord. I have my hand upon, I have my hand upon you, I not only have My hand upon you, but beneath you to under grid and lift you up, says the Lord. This will be a year when you gain true identity in me. Know longer will you flounder here and flounder there but you will know who you are in Me, says the Lord and who I am in you. If you will believe that and mix faith in that, you will know things that I a have for you are not for your destruction but for your blessing and for your benefit, say the Lord.

Encourage yourself, says the Lord, Encourage yourself in me, says the Lord. Encourage yourself in the Holy Ghost. Let the darkness be behind you and the Light of day be before you, says the Lord.

Thank you Father. We bless you now Father.

The Mission of God

By Frank Viola
The Mission of God

Throughout the book of Ephesians, Paul spills a great deal of ink trying to unveil the eternal purpose of God to the Christians in Asia Minor. The entire letter is a breathtaking unfolding of the divine purpose. In it, Paul puts the most sublime truths into human words. In Ephesians, the ultimate purpose and passion that God has had in His heart from ages past is richly set forth.

Ephesians teaches us that the purpose of God stands far outside the reaches of redemption. In eternity past, God the Father has been after a bride and a body for His Son and a house and a family for Himself. These four images—the bride, the body, the house, and the family—comprise the grand narrative of the entire Bible. And they lie at the center of God’s beating heart. They are His ultimate passion, His eternal purpose, and His governing intention. To put it another way, God’s eternal purpose is intimately wrapped up with the church.

As I write this book, there’s a great deal of talk about the Missio Dei (God’s Mission or “Sending”) in Christian circles. I think this can be a healthy emphasis. But exactly what is God’s mission? I suggest that it’s nothing other than God’s eternal purpose.

As long as I’ve been a Christian, I have made this simple observation: Our modern gospel is entirely centered on human needs. The plotline of that gospel is one of a benevolent God whose main purpose is blessing and healing a fallen world. Thus our gospel is centered on saving man’s spirit/soul (evangelism) and/or saving his body (healing the sick, delivering the captives, helping the poor, standing with the oppressed, caring for the earth, etc.). In short, the gospel that’s commonly preached today is “human centered.” It’s focused on the needs of humanity, be they spiritual or physical.

But there is a purpose in God that is for God. That purpose was formed in Christ before the fall ever occurred. The meeting of human needs is a by-product, a spontaneous outflow, of that purpose. It’s not the prime product.

Tellingly, God didn’t create humans in need of salvation. Go back to the creation project in Genesis 1 and 2, and you will discover that God’s purpose preceded the fall. That should lead us to ask a very incisive question: What was God going to do with human beings if they had never fallen?

Throughout my years as a Christian, I’ve been involved in movements that majored in evangelism, others that majored in social activism, and others that majored in spiritual gifts. All of these things were made “ends in themselves.” None of them were integrated into God’s ultimate purpose. In fact, “the eternal purpose” was never mentioned. The result was that those activities, though good and noble, failed to satisfy the beating heart of God.

Let me explain the last paragraph by giving an illustration. Imagine that a general contractor purchases twenty acres of land by which to build a housing complex. After the houses are built, he wishes to have a landscape garden at the entrance of the complex. This is his goal. So he hires someone to plant beautiful trees. He hires another to lay large rocks. He hires another to plant beautiful flowers. And he hires another to plant shrubs and bushes.

The person who plants the trees plants them randomly throughout the complex. The person who lays the rocks does the same. So does the person who plants the flowers. The person who plants the shrubs and bushes does the same.

When the contractor observes what they have all done, he’s very disappointed.

His goal was a landscape garden. Instead, he sees that the flowers, rocks, trees, shrubs, and bushes are all disconnected and scattered about the complex haphazardly.

Is it good to plant trees? Yes. Is the planting of flowers a positive thing? Certainly. But these things “in themselves” were not the contractor’s goal.

He wanted a landscape garden.

That describes the kingdom of God today. Many good deeds, but an overwhelming disconnection from God’s ultimate goal—which happens to be from Him, through Him, and to Him (Rom. 11:36; Col. 1:16–18; Eph. 1:5).

Overshooting the Main Point

Why is it that so many of us Christians have shot past the main point? Why have we not seen the greater purpose of God amid all of our books, magazines, Web sites, blogs, CDs, DVDs, conferences, and seminars?

If I knew the answer to that, I would be twofold a Solomon. I’ll make an educated guess, however. I think part of the reason is that evangelical Christians have built their theology mostly on Romans and Galatians. And many nonevangelical Christians have built it on the Gospels (particularly the Synoptics—Matthew, Mark, and Luke). And for both groups, Ephesians and Colossians have been but footnotes.

But what if we began, not with the needs of humans, but with the intent and purpose of God? What if we took as our point of departure, not the earth after the fall, but the eternal activity in God Himself before the constraints of physical time?

In other words, what if we built our theology on Ephesians and Colossians and allowed the other New Testament books to follow suit? Why Ephesians and Colossians? Because Ephesians and Colossians give us the clearest look at Paul’s gospel with which Christ commissioned him. These two letters begin, not with the needs of postfall humans, but with God’s timeless purpose before creation. They also introduce us to Christ in His preincarnate state.

I assert that if we did this, the Gospels, and the rest of the New Testament (let alone the entire Old Testament), would fall into a very different place for us. And the centrality and supremacy of Jesus Christ and His counterpart, the church, would dominate our understanding of everything spiritual and physical.

Contrary to popular opinion, the Gospels are not the beginning point of the Christian faith. Neither is the Old Testament. Both give us the middle of the story. Ephesians, Colossians, and the gospel of John are the introduction and the opening chapters of that story. Those writings give us a glimpse into Christ before time and what His mission is all about.

His earthly life that’s portrayed in Matthew, Mark, and Luke must be understood against that backdrop.

In this regard, we can liken the gospel that most of us heard to watching Star Wars Episodes IV, V, and VI first (which is the way they came out in the theaters). But for us to really understand what’s going on in that drama, we must begin at the right place with Episodes I, II, and III.

Again, human beings didn’t come into this world in need of salvation. Saving souls, feeding the poor, and alleviating the suffering of humanity was not part of God’s first motion in eternity past because the fall had not yet occurred.

Please don’t misunderstand. I’m not against any of these things. On the contrary, I’m strongly for them. But God has a purpose—an eternal purpose—that humans were to fulfill before sin entered the scene. And He has never let go of it. Everything else is and should be related to it. As DeVern Fromke says,

This which we see in Ephesians is what the Father intended to realize in His Son, and it has never been affected by sin, the fall, or time. It was this purpose which had previously been a mystery, that the Apostle Paul was now unveiling. For the Father from eternity had a wonderful purpose for Himself which of course included man. Redemption is not the end, but only a recovery program. It is but a parenthesis incorporated into the main theme.

Most evangelical Christians begin the Biblical story with Genesis 3 (the fall) and then go on to Romans and Galatians (salvation). The Biblical story, however, begins with Ephesians and Colossians (God’s purpose before time). And it continues on to Genesis 1 and 2 (God’s intention for humankind before the fall) and then the Gospels (in Jesus we see God’s eternal intention). If we learned the story this way, it would change everything.

Truthfully, it would require another book to unfold the eternal purpose of God adequately. (I’m in the process of writing such a book.) In this chapter, I will briefly introduce some of its major elements. They are ….

Freedom to enjoy

Having fun is almost a bad word in some circles. Oh sure, it’s fine to take your annual vacation or play that game of golf on the weekends (as long as it doesn’t interfere with a church function or something equally important). And we hear lots of advice about taking time to smell the roses. But just try actually putting into practice a life of genuine enjoyment. You’re guaranteed to run into guilt and criticism before too long.

While it is true that there are people who are just plain lazy or revel to the excess, it seems far more people are on the side of work addicts. Especially in the Christian community. It’s that whole performance-driven attitude again.

I once heard an insightful Jewish saying that went something like this: When we get to heaven, God isn’t going to ask us what we’ve done; He’s going to ask us if we’ve enjoyed the life He gave us. Wow, there’s something profound in that!

The freedom to enjoy isn’t about being lazy or wasting time. It’s about celebrating life. It’s about reveling in the little things like a beautiful sunset, the smell and taste of freshly baked cookies, the laughter of children. It’s about doing the things that make your heart come alive, the things God created you for. It’s about playing with the innocence of a child to the glory of your Creator. It’s about getting rid of the excess and living simply, boiling life down to what truly matters. It’s about letting worry and performance slip away.

* Dare to have fun just because you feel like it

* Live simple and simply

* Cut loose the excess baggage of anything that doesn’t truly matter

* Take the time to relax

* Ignore the guilt attacks and don’t listen to the voices of criticism

* Celebrate life

* Pay attention to what makes your heart come alive
